Queen's barge Gloriana sparks angry £1m row between council and residents

Never mind about the locals being angry and very much against it, or losing a well used park for it, oh no, the Richmond Council want to wast 1m of public money on building a boathouse and dock for the Queen´s Diamond Jubilee barge.

If the Queen is that fond it it, let her find somewhere for a boat house and dock to be built, and pay for it out of her own pocket.  Her barge, use her own cash.  That family always have to push past the limit don´t they.

The RF should pay and the public are heartily sick of subsidising them.

The worst thing is how the million could have been used to help people in the area. Quite often it is Day Centres for the elderly and clubs for the disabled which give carers a rest which suffer. It really is a disgrace.

It is a total disgrace. The queen and her ilk are far richer than they let on. They are worth hundreds of billions not hundreds of millions. That is a flat out complete lie that they put out there. And there poor mouthing is just disgusting. Own it Bitch and pay for your own shit.

If I lived in Richmond I would be heading up a petition and fighting the waste of expenditure in any way I could. It is absolutely scandalous and outrageous, people needing homes, sick and elderly needing help, and they want to waste just to house a barge. If the royals want it housed somewhere let them find a location and pay boat house and dock themselves. Oh no, can´t do that, far too mean and tight, let the plebs pay for it, let the sick and elderly go without. Keep the barge in good condition, people are irrelevant. They make me sick.

Richmond borough is next to the one I live in - both boroughs pay the highest per capita council tax in the country as they get the least government money.  We are seen to be all very wealthy to be able to live in therse boroughs which is a load of tosh - there is a mix of incomes and housing and in fact the LB of Westminster has a much lower Council Tax as they get more governemnt money, yet there are very wealthy people living there and properties there that are far more expensive then Richmond - I would think Chelsea and Kensington is not exactly full of poverty-ridden people either but they also get a lot more from national governemnt.

I understand and agree with the idea that better off people should pay more tax but not all the better off boroughs are treated the same way.

I do agree GB a petition is essential to protest against this wanton use of public money which could be put to far far better usage.

How about Queenie give up the barge. My son rowed with it and said it is not well made and the flame kept going out..hahah

So just give it to the people and then it could be housed to the Boroughs gain
