There have been many rumours over the years about this and now it has all come to light. Willy's crass, idiotic, stubborn and selfish behaviour is compared by many as almost identical to the DoW's too.

I have read I more than one book about the Abdication and the Walis/Edward scenario that one of the first tings the new King and Queen did was to remove the swastikas in the BP Ballroom - they went all along the room at the top of the walls like a sort of frieze
